Santa Maria Police arrested a man for attempted murder on Sunday.
Officers with the Santa Maria Police Department responded to reports of a vandalism in progress at a home located on the 200 block of N Western on Sunday around 9:45 a.m., according to a press release.
When officers arrived, they found a man with a serious head injury in the area of the 900 block of W Main.
The man was struck with a shovel, according to authorities.
From this, officers determined that the injured man was related to the original report on N Western.

Police then issued an arrest warrant for 37-year-old Juan Carlos Arizaga-Rosas of Santa Maria in connection to the incident.
Around 2:45 p.m., officers returned to the home on the 200 block of N Western to try and find Arizaga-Rosas.
According to officials, Arizaga-Rosas was in the front yard and police arrested him for attempted murder.
The injured man was taken to the hospital and is expected to live, police said.
