Santa Maria murder suspect pleads not guilty

The man accused of a deadly shooting in Santa Maria last month pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, 29, is charged with murder for the Oct. 6 shooting that occurred in front of 805 Tacos on West Main Street.

Jose Gonzalez Medina , 33, was killed in that shooting.

Hernandez was identified as a suspect early on in the investigation and was reportedly arrested in Mexico with help from the U.S. Marshal's Office.

Hernandez is scheduled to return to court next month.

He is being held at Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $3 million.
