Santa Maria Humane Society hosts weekend adoption special

The Santa Maria Valley Humane Society is hosting a weekend long Black Friday event.

The shelter is waiving adoption fees for all animals starting Friday through Sunday.

Along with the free adoption, the shelter includes one free exam at a participating veterinary clinic and a free bag of pet food.

The shelter has about 60 animals ready for adoption.

"It might be great here, it might be beautiful and lovely and safe here, but these animals are coming from situations where they were at risk, and when you adopt one you're saving another dog or cat who was at risk." says Matt Chan, Director of Community Engagement.

The shelter is open this weekend from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
