Santa Maria High School faculty are in an all-out effort to achieve their goal of having 100% of the 651 seniors apply for financial aid with deadlines just weeks away.
March 2 is the deadline for students to submit either the FAFSA application or California Dream Act Application.
The high school says the class of 2021 will complete the application within their Government and Economics classes. The school is also offering extra help via Zoom, individual appointments and office hours.
The class with the highest percentage of Financial Aid submissions before the deadline will be rewarded with free camps and gowns for the entire classroom.
“During these very difficult times we are looking for creative ways to help motivate our students do the things that will help them be successful,’’ said Assistant Saint Principal Monica Pallan. “It will be a great way to involve all stakeholders to get students to complete the FAFSA and/or CA Dream Act Application.’’
The free caps and gowns are provided thanks to donations from the Santa Maria Sunrisers Lions club and the UCSB Early Academic Outreach Program.
