A Santa Barbara resident died Friday after being hit by a car on Cathedral Oaks Road in Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Officers say 45-year-old Travis Gottlob was walking in the street on Cathedral Oaks Road Friday morning when he was hit by a Mazda Miata driving toward Glen Annie Road.

Gottlob was pronounced dead within minutes of Sheriff's deputies, Santa Barbara County Fire and AMR personnel arriving on scene after 8:30 a.m.

The driver of the Miata, a 23-year-old Goleta resident, cooperated with investigators and was released from the scene.

It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor with the driver.

Cathedral Oaks Road was closed for several hours after the accident.

Anyone with information regarding the collision or who may have had contact with Travis Gottlob on Nov. 13 is asked to contact Deputy Matthew Dawson at (805) 961-7519 or mjd1267@sbsheriff.org.
