UPDATE (4 p.m.) - Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies arrested a juvenile accused of attacking another juvenile with a knife on Tuesday at a shopping center near San Marcos High School.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the Turnpike Shopping Center.

Sheriff's officials say deputies responded to a report of a fight in progress and found a victim with an injured hand. Other juveniles involved in the fight had reportedly already fled the scene.

A little more than a half-hour later, along Hollister Ave. west of Turnpike Rd., deputies reportedly made contact with a male juvenile who sheriff's officials say matched the description of a suspect involved in the assault.

The juvenile was taken into custody.

Sheriff's officials say the victim was released to his guardians and would be seeking medical attention on his own.
