One local elementary school has a new artistic masterpiece.

Los Ranchos Elementary School unveiled a mosaic mural Monday morning.

More than 500 artists including transitional kindergarteners through 6th graders, staff, and parents, helped create the work of art at the San Luis Obispo school.

Each student created a tile with their Children's Creative Project Teacher, Bonnie Johnson. Professional Artist, Pam Consear of All Hands Art led the week-long project.

The mural, spanning 16' X 5', highlights the school's motto: We take care of ourselves. We take care of each other. We take care of this place.

Principal Marlie Schmidt said, "It has been so inspiring to have the entire Los Ranchos School community involved in this collaborative process of creativity that will grace our school for years to come."
