An E. coli outbreak linked to romaine lettuce appears to be over.

The CDC is no longer advising consumers to avoid eating lettuce from the Salinas growing region.

According to the agency, the contaminated lettuce that made everyone sick is no longer available for sale.

A total of 167 cases were reported in 27 states and 85 people had to be hospitalized. No deaths were reported.

The source of the contamination is still under investigation.
