San Luis Obispo-based non-profit organization RISE will host its sixth annual Wine Women & Shoes event virtually in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

According to a news release, the event is scheduled to take place on September 13. Tickets to the virtual event are free, with watch parties available for purchase starting in August.

"While COVID has thrown a wrench in our plans, we hope you'll join us in celebrating our collective resilience with a little wine and fun," said Jane Pomeroy, executive director of RISE. "With your support, RISE will continue to serve survivors, their families and loved ones in San Luis Obispo County for years to come."

A virtual broadcast will be available through Facebook and YouTube. Watch parties for two to 10 guests include wine from local vineyards, swag bags from event sponsors and optional food.

Community members can get involved with the event by donating items to RISE's live and silent auctions, which organizers say will begin the week before the live broadcast, or by signing up to be a Soul Mate and competing for the title "Sole Mate of the Year," said event organizers.

RISE said attendees will have the opportunity to enter a raffle, bid on curated items at silent and live auctions and check out the latest trends at the fashion show provided by local boutiques.

To register for Wine Women & Shoes, community members can visit winewomenandshoes.com/RISE. Businesses can email contact@riseslo.org for sponsorship opportunities.

All proceeds from the virtual event will benefit RISE programs that support survivors of sexual assault/abuse and intimate partner violence and their loved ones, said the news release.

According to RISE, event sponsors include Bank of America, Coast Hills Credit Union, Idler's Home, French Hospital Medical Center and more.
