Representative Salud Carbajal will host an agriculture industry roundtable Monday in San Luis Obispo to discuss his Farm Workforce Modernization Act with local stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The roundtable will take place 1-2:30 p.m. Monday at the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau, located on 4875 Morabito Place in San Luis Obispo.
According to a press release, the bipartisan Farm Workforce Modernization Act, which passed through the House Judiciary Committee in November, provides for earned legal status for farmworkers and creates a merit-based visa program designed for the country's agricultural sector.
Local stakeholders with the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau, Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance and other organizations will be at the event to speak with Carbajal about agriculture workforce challenges and opportunities for the central coast.
