A man is facing felony charges following a pursuit that ended in a crash in Santa Maria Monday.

Santa Maria police say officers received a call from a driver shortly after 11:30 a.m.

His statements were not making sense, according to police, who say the 30-year-old man was also repeatedly asking for help.

Police tried to locate the driver of the blue Dodge car but they say he was "non compliant."

After multiple 911 calls, police were able to track him down and tried to pull him over, but he took off, police say.

Officers made contact again with him over the phone and began receiving several calls from people reporting a possible hit and run, erratic driving and someone almost hitting a pedestrian, according to police.

Officers say they caught up with the driver once again and tried to get him to pull over, but he took off.

A pursuit began, heading onto Highway 101 and back into the City of Santa Maria.

The driver crashed shortly before 1:30 p.m. into a city bus on Union Valley Parkway at Orcutt Road and tried to run off, according to police, who say officers were able to take him into custody before he jumped into another vehicle.

Police say two people suffered minor injuries.

No other information was immediately available.
