UPDATE: Man arrested following reports of domestic disturbance in Santa Barbara

(UPDATE): Santa Barbara police say one person was arrested after officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in Santa Barbara Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the 800 block of Cambria Way just after 12:15 p.m. and say they were able to get a woman out of the situation safely.

They say a man at the home refused to come out and after about two hours of negotiations, the suspect, identified as a 64-year-old man from Santa Barbara, was arrested just before 2:30 p.m.

He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony domestic battery. Bail was set at $50,000.

Police have not said whether the woman was injured. 

The Santa Barbara Police Crisis Negotiation Response Team and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team assisted police at the scene.

People were asked to avoid the area while the incident was ongoing.

(ORIGINAL STORY): People are being asked to avoid a portion of Cambria Way in Santa Barbara due to police activity Monday afternoon.

Santa Barbara police said at 1:20 p.m. they were along the 800 block of Cambria Way, calling the incident isolated and saying there is no threat at this time to the public.

They’re asking people to stay away from the area until the incident has been resolved.
