Police make arrest following weekend shooting in Morro Bay

Morro Bay police have made an arrest in a drive-by shooting investigation.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Rennell St. at about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Police say officers who responded to the call found an unoccupied vehicle with damage from multiple gunshots parked in the driveway of a home. They say the family that lives at the home was not hurt.

Based on witness interviews and evidence collected at the scene, police say they were able to identify the suspect as Samuel Sparks, 24, of Arizona.

He was reportedly taken into custody Sunday night in Atascadero and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, stalking, and child endangerment. He is being held with bail set at $250,000.

Police say Sparks and the family knew each other.
