(5:20 p.m.) - San Luis Obispo police are trying to identify the driver of a vehicle that was involved in an altercation with protesters on Tuesday.

Police say the incident happened at about 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of Chorro Street.

The police department released aerial video, which shows protesters running toward a gray vehicle. Several people can be seen directly in front of the vehicle and it appears that the vehicle hits one or more of the protesters as the driver makes a right-hand turn and speeds away.

Police claim the driver is the victim of vandalism. They say the video also shows protest organizer Tianna Arata hitting the vehicle with a flagpole.

The video does not show the moments leading up to the altercation.

Arata was arrested following Tuesday night's protest and march on suspicion of participation in a riot, unlawful assembly, conspiracy, unlawful imprisonment, and resisting arrest.

Police are asking anyone with information about the car or the driver seen in the video to contact SLOPD Detective Miguel Lozano at 805-594-8011.
