A body pulled from the surf in Pismo Beach is that of a Costa Mesa man reported missing earlier this month, according to police.
Authorities were called to the beach at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after someone reported seeing the body, described only as a white male adult with head trauma. Police said foul play was not suspected.
At the time, investigators said they did not know if it was Jacob Potter, 28, who was reportedly last seen Nov. 1 walking behind the Pismo Lighthouse Suites where his car was later found in the parking lot. He was reported missing the following week.
On Wednesday, Pismo Beach police identified the body as Jacob Potter from Costa Mesa.
According to a press release, the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office and the Pismo Beach Police determined the cause of death as suicide.
