After 37 years, the Pismo Beach Police Department made the tough decision to cancel this year's Thanksgiving dinner.
Instead, the department is partnering with the U-Pick Pantry at New Life Pismo to distribute about 90 turkeys to families in need.
The department posted on Facebook that the change is due to the most recent spike in COVID-19 cases and updated restrictions by health officials.
