Local police are saying it's safer to run with them than run from them. It was a way Pismo Beach police officers encouraged community members to participate in their department's 5k run.
The Pismo Beach Police Department hosted a "Run with Cops" 5k which toured through city streets.
Officers and community members started at the police department located on 1000 Bello Street and then ran a loop to end back at the station.
Free coffee and Surfside donuts were waiting for runners when they returned.
Walkers, runners, sprinters and even friendly, leashed dogs were all invited to join.
