The California Highway Patrol is responding to a fatal crash along the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara.
According to CHP, the crash happened just north of the La Cumbre off ramp.
The crash happened at around 6:10 p.m. Friday. As of 7:30 p.m. CHP has the number two and three lanes closed as they investigate the scene.
According to CHP, the pedestrian was crossing from the center divider of the freeway, trying to make their way to the right hand side of the road when they were struck by a vehicle.
CHP says the driver of a Dark Gray Toyota Camry did not know what they hit when the collision happened. The vehicle reportedly has suffered damaged with a caved in windshield.
