Pedestrian hit Thursday night on Calle Real

At approximately 8:46 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2020, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

The woman was seriously injured and transported to the hospital where she is expected to recover, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

She appeared to be in a crosswalk when she was hit by a full-sized Chevrolet truck.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the driver of the vehicle admitted to consuming some alcohol, but after further evaluation on scene, he was determined to not be under the influence and was well under the legal limit for blood alcohol content.

The driver was eventually released from the scene of the incident that took place on the 5700-block of Calle Real, the investigation is ongoing.
