Pedestrian hit, killed along Hwy 101 in San Luis Obispo

A pedestrian was killed after being hit while trying to cross Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It happened at about 4:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway just south of Madonna Road.

Officers say a 55-year-old man from Los Osos was running across the highway from the center divider when he ran directly in front of the vehicle.

The man died from his injuries.

The driver, identified as a 49-year-old woman from San Luis Obispo, was going approximately 65-70 mph, according to CHP, and was not arrested.
