The local nonprofit branch of People Assisting the Homeless, PATH Santa Barbara, announced it has been able to maintain its 100-bed capacity for housing the homeless, address urgent needs, place people in full-time employment and provide services due to partnerships with local organizations.
PATH partners with Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Holehouse Construction Company and Bucket Brigade to help those in need.
The organization has also reinstated its entire volunteer base after implementing new safety measures like plexiglass, social distancing markers and personal protective equipment.
PATH recently placed two formerly homeless individuals in full-time construction jobs at Holehouse Construction Company. Another individual received help to start his own business of refurnishing furniture.
In the past 12 weeks PATH has received:
- 300 donated hygiene kits (including body wash, razors, tooth brushes and toothpaste, clothing, face masks, face shields) from 7 separate student groups
- 100 face masks, 24 face shields and 8 large bottles of hand sanitizer from Bucket Brigade
- 150 gallons of milk from a crew member at Starbucks
PATH is the largest homeless nonprofit working to end homelessness in California. The organization builds affordable housing and provides supportive services statewide. It provides these services in 150 California cities and serves 20 percent of the state's population experiencing homelessness. PATH has helped move more than 10,000 people into permanent homes in the last five years.
