A longtime Orcutt store is closing its doors Thursday for the final time.

Mark Steller has owned Old Town market, located at 405 E. Clark Ave., for the last 16 years.

He says several months ago, the building owner let him know the property had been sold, leaving him no choice but to close.

Steller says he and his wife, Wendy, will be taking a break and considering future business plans.

"It's bittersweet. Looking forward to the next chapter and I really hope that the town will embrace whatever it is that comes into this spot,” Steller told KSBY News.

Those who shop at the market say its friendly hometown feel will be missed.

The building was purchased in 1948 by Joe Scolari and was the first Scolari’s store before it expanded across the state and into Nevada.

Steller says another type of market will likely go in.
