(Update): Santa Maria Police say the person shot suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
"Right now, we're still trying to figure out what the reasoning is for this. What the motive was. who the suspects are," says Lieutenant Paul Van Meel.
Police say the victim is at a local hospital in critical condition.

Santa Maria Police responded to reports of a shooting Monday evening.
According to police, the shooting happened on the 600 block of North Palisades shortly before 3 p.m.
Police say one person has been taken to the hospital.
The extent of their injuries have not been released.
The Santa Maria Police Department, the Santa Maria Fire Department, along with AMR responded to the scene.
