UPDATE (6:41 p.m.) - Police have identified the victim as a 65-year-old woman. Her name has not yet been released as officials are working to contact her next of kin.

UPDATE (1:41 p.m.) - Santa Maria Fire officials say the body of a deceased person was found in the bed of a studio apartment that burned Friday afternoon.
The cause of the fire and the death are both under investigation.
Officials are not releasing any other information about the person who died at this time.
The fire was contained to the single apartment and no other apartments were damaged.

(1:13 p.m.) - The Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a deadly apartment complex fire Friday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the Amara apartment complex on the 200 block of West Carmen Lane at around 12:30 p.m.
Fire officials say one person died in the fire.
Santa Maria Fire, Santa Maria Police, along with AMR responded to the fire.
