(UPDATE- Tuesday, 4 a.m.): San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Deputies responded to reports of a shooting Monday evening in Avila Beach.
It happened on the 1200 block of San Luis Bay Drive at around 6 p.m.
When deputies arrived witnesses told them there was a fight between two men, who were acquaintances, when the suspect pulled a gun on the victim and shot him multiple times.
Deputies say the victim was able to transport himself to the hospital where he was treated for no life threatening injuries.
Deputies put out a 'be on the lookout' bulletin for the suspect who fled the scene in a vehicle. A short time after the suspects vehicle was spotted by CHP in San Luis Obipso where a pursuit began.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of Yerba Buena Street and Highway One in Morro Bay when the suspect crashed into another vehicle. Deputies say the suspect was able to extricate himself from the vehicle where he was then arrested and taken to the hospital where he was medically cleared to be put into custody.
The suspect has been identified as 53-year-old John Salazar of Los Osos. He was arrested for attempted murder.
There is no booking photo of Salazar since he is still being processed at the County Jail.

A shooting took place Monday around 6 p.m. on San Luis Bay Drive in Avila Beach, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department. A male victim was shot and sustained non-life-threatening wounds.
The male shooting suspect was then located by California Highway Patrol which began a pursuit. The chase ended at Highway 1 and Yerba Buena Street in Morro Bay after the suspect crashed into another vehicle, according to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect has been taken into custody.

ORIGINAL STORY: A heavy law enforcement presence is on scene of a crash in Morro Bay Monday night.
It happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Northbound Highway 1 at Yerba Buena Street.
Officers took one of the drivers into custody.
