A new school year. A new playground.
Students, parents, and staff welcomed the first day of school at Old Mission School in San Luis Obispo with the unveiling and blessing of the renovated playground.
What was once 100 yards of asphalt now has a jungle gym, turf, and basketball courts for students to enjoy.
The new equipment was made possible by a significant donation to the school's foundation.
On Monday morning, students ages K-8 took photos with family and friends at the new space, before a blessing from Fr. Kelly Vandehey.
The jungle gym will be completed within the next few days as construction crews added the final touches.
