(UPDATE (6:15 a.m.) - The California Highway Patrol is releasing more information about a fatal crash Friday night in Arroyo Grande.
Officers say a 36-year-old man from Santa Barbara was driving a 2014 Polaris ATV on private property near Los Berros Road and Milton Street when he lost control, went off a driveway and hit a tree. The ATV then rotated before crashing into a second tree, according to CHP.
Officers say the driver, whose name has not yet been released, was not wearing safety equipment and died at the scene.
His passenger, identified as Brian Bullough, 34, of Seal Beach, was reportedly strapped into the ATV and suffered major injuries.
Investigators say it's unknown at this time if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

(ORIGINAL STORY (11:45 p.m. Friday) - The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is reporting a fatal collision near the Los Berros Market & Deli in Arroyo Grande.
Police say two males were involved in the single-vehicle crash into a tree shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday. Their names and ages are not being released at this time.
The crash reportedly happened on private property in the area of Los Berros Road and Milton Street.
One person was being transported to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, according to CHP. The other person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say the vehicle involved may be an off-road vehicle. The California Highway Patrol is also on scene.
