The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission is asking for feedback from the community about the decommissioning process of Diablo Canyon Power Plant.

The meeting held on Tuesday night was designated to help the NRC staff find the best and most efficient ways to establish local community advisory boards and their operation in connection to power reactor decommissioning activities.

A questionnaire was given out to those in attendance in order to gain an understanding of the requests community members suggest. This information will then be included in a report that will be sent to Congress.

San Luis Obispo County is receiving more than $23 million from PG&E to handle the power plant’s closure and lessen the impact on the local Central Coast community.

Diablo Canyon Power Plant is expected to stop operations no later than 2025.
