ORIGINAL STORY: A 26-year-old pedestrian has died after reportedly walking into the northbound lane on Highway 101 just south of Madonna Inn.
The man was first struck by a driver in an old Toyota, who fled the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, a second vehicle struck the man. The driver stayed on the scene and was treated for minor injuries.
Police officials are currently investigation the crash as a hit and run. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Luis Obispo CHP Area Office at 805-594-8700.
Earlier, at around 11 p.m., Northbound Highway 101 reopened after a closure at Madonna Road in San Luis Obispo Sunday evening.
At the time, California Highway Patrol shared that the closure was the result of an incident involving a pedestrian and several vehicles.
