Dozens of classic cars stopped by “The Oaks at Nipomo" for a drive-by car show and food drive.

The car show featured automotive and classic vehicles from the Trilogy Monarch Dunes and the Bent Axles Car Club. The Oaks collected food donations from the motorists for the Santa Barbara County Food Bank and the Nipomo Food Basket.

Event organizers say the show is a chance for seniors at the assisted living facility to have fun despite limited visiting protocols.

"They brought their beautiful cars to do a drive-by car show for our residents to help the residents have a spark for the day, a glimmer of these beautiful cars, and maybe reminisce on some of their childhood memories," said Debra Benitez, community relations director for The Oaks at Nipomo.

Prior to this weekend, The Oaks did not allow in-person visits and only allowed seniors to call or FaceTime their loved ones due to COVID-19.
