A 28-year veteran of the fire service will take the helm of Cal Fire San Luis Obispo next month.
Cal Fire director Thom Porter announced Wednesday that he has appointed Chief Eddy Moore to lead Cal Fire SLO as unit chief starting March 2.
Moore is taking over as unit chief following Chief Scott Jalbert's retirement in Dec. 2020.
According to a news release from the fire department, Moore began his firefighting career in 1993 with the Cal Fire unit in San Diego. Moore climbed the ranks of Cal Fire and has served in various roles for Cal Fire units from Riverside to Santa Cruz.
Most recently, Moore was assigned to Cal Fire's Southern Region Technical Services Program.
Moore is currently working to earn his bachelor's degree in Emergency Services Management from the Union Institute & University.
He is married to his wife Jennypher and has two young children.
Cal Fire SLO provides fire protection and emergency services for San Luis Obispo County and the city of Pismo Beach.
