Multiple structures in a San Luis Obispo neighborhood were damaged by a fire on Tuesday evening.
San Luis Obispo City Fire Department Fire Chief Todd Tuggle said two homes on Legacy Lane were completely destroyed, a third was partially destroyed, and a fourth suffered exterior damage. All homes damaged were under construction.
The open and exposed lumber lacking noncombustible elements that would normally accompany finished housing contributed greatly to the intensity of the flames, Tuggle said.
Some residents arrived just as the fire broke out.
"I had just got home from work and I was driving past [Los Osos Valley Road] and we saw [the homes] just completely engulfed in flames," Gabby Clark, a San Luis Obispo resident, told KSBY. "My roommates and I rushed over to see what was going on."
The fire broke out around 7 p.m. in the 1900 block of Legacy Lane. Tuggle said that the fire was quickly contained to the structures involved.
No residents or firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire officials ask anyone with information to contact the department's non-emergency dispatch line at (805) 781-7380.
