More camping options are soon coming to Avila Beach.
The new development, Harbor Terrace, is set to go up next to the entrance of Diablo Canyon Power Plant.
Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday.
The 32-acre site will have 60 RF pads, 55 walk-in and drive-in tent camping sites, and 51 RV cabins.
There will also be a lodge, a swimming pool, restaurant/cafe, recreation facilities, and other visitor amenities.
“It meets a wide range of income levels, and depending on what people want to spend, you can come and camp at very inexpensive rates. I don't have all the rates right now, but you can walk in, you can drive in and camp. You can bring your own RV, if you have one, or you can come stay in one of the RV's that we provide or you can stay in a higher end like safari tent cabin or a cottage type park model cabin,” said Tim Kihm, TK consulting president.
The project will cost at least $15-million.
Construction is set to begin next week.
It's planned to be completed in November.
