The Mid-State Fair is finding ways to support local junior livestock exhibitors even as in-person events were canceled due to the pandemic.
The 2020 Junior Livestock Virtual Sale and Show kicked off Wednesday, July 22nd and will run until the beginning of August.
4-H and FFA exhibitors from around San Luis Obispo County and southern parts of Monterey County will showcase the hard work they have put into raising their market and breeding animals during the virtual show.
The Market Animal Virtual Sales closed Saturday at 2 p.m.
The James W. Brabeck Youth Legacy Fund said on Facebook, "Wow, what an amazing day for the Mid State Fair’s virtual auction! Due to the overwhelming generosity of our community and the efforts of the Buyers Coalition we were able to support hundreds of junior livestock exhibitors."
Organization leaders also said every animal requested by the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank will be processed to provide food for those in need.
The primary objective of the JWBYLF is to support youth in agriculture and at-risk youth in our communities through scholarship.
Virtual Show Judging will take place July 28th through the 31st. Results will be announced Saturday, August 1st.
