Cal Fire SLO is urging people to stay vigilant this wildfire season as August marks the anniversary of major wildfires in San Luis Obispo County.
Cal Fire SLO tweeted August 7 a photo mapping the Chimney Fire, which sparked on August 13, 2016, the Highway 58 Fire which sparked August 15, 1996 and the Highway 41 Fire which sparked August 14, 1994.
Fire officials say these fires mark the deadliest, costliest and largest wildfires in San Luis Obispo County history.
All three of these fires started on nearly the same day. Firefighters say this is a great time to remind residents to be vigilant and avoid any activity that could spark a wildfire.
