The current school year will likely be the last for Lucia Mar Unified School District’s superintendent.
The district announced Friday that Andy Stenson has submitted his resignation.
“Mr. Stenson was named Superintendent in 2018 and has spent nine of the last eleven years in a cabinet position, including the last five years,” the district said in a press release. “Now he will be taking a step back to create a better balance for himself and his family.”
Stenson has asked the Board of Education to reassign him to another position in the district for the next school year.
"Mr. Stenson has always been an exemplary example of TEAM Lucia Mar and while we will miss his leadership as our superintendent, he will remain a valued member of our district family,” Board President Vicki Meagher said in a press release.
The board on Tuesday will look into accepting Stenson’s resignation, which would become effective June 30, and request for reassignment.
Stenson was appointed to the position in September 2018 after the previous superintendent resigned due to health concerns.
