Los Padres National Forest officials issued a forest order that closes the area of the Mill Fire on the Monterey Ranger District to the public.

The closure goes into effect Sunday, August 4th.

Violators face a penalty of $5,000 and/or six months in jail.

In a statement released Saturday, officials say the emergency road closure of the Nacimiento-Fergusson Road begins at its intersection with State Highway 1, in the eastern edge of Section 26, Township 22 South, Range 4 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian and continues east for about 16 miles to the Los Padres National Forest Boundary.
