The Lompoc Unified School District is teaming up with Cal Poly to provide its students with opportunities to learn more about college.

The partnership will teach both Lompoc High School and Cabrillo High School students the tips needed to be accepted and excel in college.

Lompoc High students will receive help in the admissions process to increase their chances of being accepted. They will also be able to take a tour of the Cal Poly campus to understand the meaning of the “Learn By Doing” motto.

Meanwhile, the math department at Cabrillo High will receive enhanced learning opportunities that will help students later on in their college years.

"More kind of cutting-edge ways of doing things in our schools so that students will be better prepared for whatever career or college they're going to go to in the future," said Brian Jaramillo, Director of Pupil Support Services at Lompoc Unified School District.

The program is going into effect this year.
