Community members in Lompoc are building a new court for the local Boys and Girls Club.
The backyard of the club floods when it rains and the volleyball court has become a litter box for stray cats.
So, a local couple is selling barbecue plates to reach their goal of $20,000.
The plan is to resurface the club's yard with a concrete slab for basketball and other sports.
"Here at the Boys and Girls Club we started to get to know the director and the kids and we were like, 'man this is something we really got passionate about.' So, we decided we wanted to help out," said volunteer Matthew Grant.
Tickets are $50 each for a family meal for four, which includes: a whole tri-tip, beans, salad and garlic bread, prepared by the Village Coffee Stop Café and Catering here in Lompoc. Tickets can be pre-purchased at the Lompoc Boys & Girls Club, Lompoc Foursquare Church or online at Eventbrite.com.
The BBQ fundraiser will take place on Jan. 30
