Lompoc police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the Santa Ynez Riverbed.
Police say a man was found dead on Wednesday in the riverbed near the old Mervyn's building off of H Street.
Officers are still looking for the suspect. As of 2:30 p.m., they were awaiting a search warrant so they could enter a tent in the riverbed.
Both the Lompoc Police Department and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office are investigating the case.
Earlier in the day, police responded to a report of a shooting in the alley between C and D streets.
In that case, police say a man entered the Fiesta Liquor store on North A Street and threatened to kill the owner before fleeing to the alleyway where investigators say he took his own life before officers arrived.
