One local family is celebrating the birth of their son born just a minute into the New Year.
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital says Liam Salcedo arrived at 12:01 a.m. Friday weighing 8 lbs., 4oz. and was 20 inches long.
Parents Jessica Hernandez and Jaime Salcedo are from Lompoc.
Little Liam is the first baby to be born in Santa Barbara County in 2021.
The second baby born in the county arrived at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
Vladimir Diaz Lopez was born at 2:36 a.m. weighing 6 lbs., 3 oz. and was 19.25 inches long.
Parents Rosalba Lopez Zeferino and Celestino Diazbout are overjoyed and were not expecting a New Year's arrival, according to the hospital.
Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center welcomed the first baby of 2021 in San Luis Obispo County less than an hour into the New Year.
Hospital officials say the baby girl was born at 12:54 a.m.
The family has requested no other information be released.
