KSBY General Manager Kathleen Choal has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of KSHB 41 Action News and KMCI 38 the Spot, the E.W. Scripps Company television stations in Kansas City, Missouri.

Choal has led the San Luis Obispo television station since 2011 and is responsible for the creation of the successful Season of Hope food and toy drive that benefits multiple charities in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

She's remained active in the community throughout her career in San Luis Obispo, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center.

Prior to working at KSBY, Choal was the Station Manager and News Director at KVOA in Tucson, Arizona, and worked at KMGH in Denver, KVVU in Las Vegas, WCCO in Minneapolis, and KPRC in Houston.

"Kathleen's impressive experience in local television is underscored by her commitment to community journalism and her willingness to pursue innovative solutions for the stations she has served," said Brian Lawlor, President of Local Media for Scripps.

"I am excited to begin the next chapter of my Scripps career with KSHB and KMCI," Choal said. "Many of the best moments of my career have come from working with news teams to inform and empower their increasingly diverse audiences, and I feel honored to be able to dive into this work with the teams at KSHB and KMCI."

Choal's first day on the job in Kansas City is October 21, but she will continue to manage KSBY until her replacement is hired.
