Lincoln High School in Stockton is working to raise funds for a memorial bench in honor of Kristin Smart.
According to a GoFundMe page, The WAVES (Worth Achievement Value Empowerment Success) Club at Lincoln High School started the fundraiser.
Lincoln High is Kristin Smart's alma mater. Organizers say the goal is to install at least one bench in the swimming pool area, as Smart was on the swim team when she attended the high school.
If funds allow, the club plans to create and install more memorial benches outside of the swimming pool area.
Organizers say they hope these benches will help keep Smart's memory alive in her hometown.
