Officials with the Department of State Hospitals are investigating an apparent overdose at the Atascadero State Hospital.
Hospital police say the patient who suffered the suspected overdose on Tuesday is in "stable" condition.
An investigation is underway to determine the substance involved in the overdose and how the incident occurred.
Investigators have not released any further information at this time.
