The Hunger Awareness Day event at the San Luis Obispo Food Bank brought in a total of $177,946.54 in donations, far exceeding last year's total of $118,000.

Donations are still being accepted on the San Luis Obispo Food Bank's website or by texting FEED805 to 70-70-70.

The Food Bank is also in need of volunteers. Sign-ups are available on the website.

The Food Bank has continued its home-delivery service to approximately 1,000 households during the pandemic. They distribute 35,000-40,000 lbs of food every week throughout the community.

KSBY and the Scripps Howard Foundation donated $12,000 to the event. That amount alone feeds 84,000 people.
