Honor Flight of the Central Coast announced Thursday the cancellation of their upcoming honor flight in April.

Officials with the honor flight say the cancellation is out of concern for older vets' health amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The "Tour of Honor" was scheduled to take place in April, and 22 local veterans were expected to take the trip to Washington, D.C.

The president of Honor Flight, Bear McGill, says the group hopes to quickly reschedule the trip. McGill notes that the Honor Flight currently has three additional trips uneffected for the rest of 2020.

The Central Coast Honor Flight Chapter serves veterans from northern San Luis Obispo County through Santa Barbara County.

Nearly 350 veterans from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties have made the trip with the local group.
