The Grover Beach community and family members came together to celebrate a woman’s birthday on Tuesday. It was a major milestone for Betty long who turned 90 years old.

"I had no idea all this was happening, so thank you,” Long said.

She waved to every single person who drove by her home congratulating her on her special day.

"It's been a long road, a long road for her, and we pray for her every day,” family friend, Diana Smaw, said.

Viewers first met Long back in 2016 when she was badly injured in adog attack near her Grover Beach home.

According to her family, she's also just recovered from COVID-19 and a stroke.

"We didn't know what was going to happen from there, so she really has made a big comeback just in her spirits,” Long's daughter, Suzanne McClain said.

Long's friends and family credit her longevity to her high spirits.

"You know what I think that's what keeps her going, it makes her wake up every day you know,” Smaw said.

Long also says the key to a long life is keeping a positive attitude, even during the darkest times.

"Life can be beautiful after you have some bad things happen to you, and I'm happy, happy, happy,” Long said.
