Grocery Outlet in Arroyo Grande celebrated one year since it opened in Oak Park Plaza.

On Saturday, customers had a chance to enter a giveaway on social media for a two-night stay at the Seacrest Oceanfront Hotel in Pismo Beach and a $100 dinner gift card.

The winner of the giveaway was announced during the store's ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

Grocery Outlet staff said the COVID-19 pandemic hit just three weeks after its grand opening last year.

Michael Testa, the Arroyo Grande Grocery Outlet co-owner, said he's proud of his team's resilience.

"At that point [when the pandemic hit], it was a challenge for our team and ourselves to keep our shelves full. We faced a lot of adversity, but our teams held together," Testa said. "Their goal as well as ours was to serve our community."

Grocery Outlet workers also gave free reusable bags and a store coupon for the first 100 customers in line Saturday.
