UPDATE (5:30 a.m. Wednesday) - Police have released new details in Tuesday night's deadly crash in Grover Beach.
Grover Beach Police Chief John Peters says a man was crossing the street at the 300 block of N. Oak Park Blvd. in an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by an SUV.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, according to police. Chief Peters says the driver was checked for use of drugs or alcohol and was found not to be intoxicated.
GBPD and CHP are investigating the collision.
The name of the pedestrian will not be released until his family is notified.

First responders with the Five Cities Fire Authority are responding to a fatal crash where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Grover Beach Tuesday.
Fire officials said it happened at around 7 p.m. near the 300 block of North Oak Park Blvd and Brighton Ave.
Fire officials said when they arrived the person hit was not breathing.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department confirmed the crash is fatal.
The Grover Beach Police Department, Arroyo Grande Police Department and San Luis Ambulance are also responding to the scene.
Grover Beach City council members were set to discuss the safety of this intersection at their meeting Tuesday night.
