UPDATE (12:32 p.m.) - The cause of Tuesday's house fire in Los Osos is under investigation.

"Right now, we don't have too many leads," said CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Paul Lee. "It was quite involved when we showed up so there wasn't a lot for us to find as far as clues."

Lee says someone walking by spotted the fire and called 911.

The approximately 2,000-square-foot home at the corner of Santa Lucia Avenue and 2nd Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

"Quite extensive damage," he said. "We're looking for the cause right now. It's going to take us a while to get through all of the materials."

Lee says no one was home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were expected to remain on scene for three to four more hours.
